I live in a small house. So small we have to reconfigure areas throughout the day to re-purpose them. Needless to say, I am constantly looking for space saving products for childcare. In order for me to maximize the space, I need things that are able to collapse and be moved out of the way when not in use. So just in case you are in the market for some compact solutions for your childcare or you are just starting out and need budget-friendly options to outfit your childcare, check out my list of space-saving products for childcare.
Space Saving Products for Childcare
Compact Highchairs
Like many providers, when I started I got many items secondhand. Usually from thrift stores, Craigslist or donations. Just about all of the highchairs I had where different makes and models. Eventually, I replaced them with one model that collapsed and allowed me to store them in a small space.
Here are a few newer models that have a very small footprint and are easier on the pocketbook too.
Each of these options is under $50.
- I love this highchair option by Fisher-Price is designed to be a space saver.
- The Cosco Simple Fold Deluxe Highchair has an easy to wipe seat and a 3-point harness. For children up to 50 pounds.
- This highchair by Chicco is actually a portable highchair perfect for children up to 50 pounds.
- This highchair by Summer Infant called Pop n’ Sit does just that. It pops open like a play yard. It offers a 3-point harness and comes with its own carrying case.
Folding Swings
All of these options are under $75.
- Fisher-Price has packed a lot of features into this little swing. It has 6-speed settings and will soothe even the fussiest baby to sleep with 10 songs.
- The Ingenuity ConvertMe Ridgedale Swing-2-Seat is not just a swing but doubles as an infant seat too.
- Graco’s Baby Swing by Me, Cleo is a real portable model. It has all the functionality of larger swings but offers a cordless option as the swing is battery operated.
Smaller Pack n’ Plays
I found some really good bargains on compact play yards too.
All of these options are less than $100 and some are under $60.
- The Nimble Nook by Graco offers a full-size bassinet but has automatically folding feet for a compact fold.
- Also by Graco, the Finch Pack n’ Playard has all the standard features of a play yard but folds to a 20% more compact fold than the average play yard.
- Graco’s Aspery Pack n’ Play Playard also has automatically folding feet and has wheels to easy move it out of the way.
- Jetsetter Sunshine by Graco comes with the standard features of a playard but also has a mesh dome perfect for use outside.
- Speaking of outside, the Summer Infant Pop n’ Play Ultimate Portable Playard is a personal favorite. No only because it was meant to be used outside, but because it has a canopy to keep the sun off baby and it can hold more than one child. Oh, and doesn’t it just look cool?
