Hey there, folks! So, listen up! Thrivingchildcare.com had the honor of being part of the super-duper cool Annabelle Godwin 20th Annual Play Day! It went down on Saturday, May 14, 2016, at Woodley Park in Van Nuys, CA. And let me tell you, it was a total blast!
Annabelle Godwin 20th Annual Play Day
Annabelle Godwin play day, was named in honor of Professor Annabelle Godwin for her long-time commitment to positive childcare programs in education, it’s a free family event with storytelling, art, science, music, and movement activities for children of all ages, entertainment, and much more!
The Play Day is a real gem – a FREE Family Community Event hosted by the awesome CCRC (Child Care Resource Center). They put together this shindig to celebrate Professor Annabelle Godwin, who’s been a champ in spreading positive vibes in childcare programs for ages. And what a celebration it was!
Community Fun
We had everything a kid’s heart could desire – storytelling, art, science, music, and movement activities that were off the charts! Imagine the joy on the little ones’ faces – it was contagious!
And guess what? It wasn’t just childcare providers who showed up – the whole community got in on the fun too! We had reptiles strutting their stuff in an exhibit, a giveaway of FREE books (score!), gigantic bubble makers mesmerizing the kiddos, and even raffles. Oh, and let’s not forget about the yummy food – you can’t go wrong with that!
Frozen Dinosaur Eggs
At our booth, we had two awesome activities lined up. First up was the “Ice-Age Dinosaur Excavation.” Picture this – kids with warm water and droppers, freeing dinosaurs from ice eggs. It was like Jurassic Park, but way cuter! Plus, it gave the little ones a chance to hone their fine motor skills, explore their senses, and discover cause-and-effect – all in one go. Oh, and they got to keep their “hatched dinosaurs” as souvenirs. How rad is that?
Painting Fireworks
Next on the agenda was “Painting Fireworks.” We provided recycled cardboard tubes (eco-friendly and artsy – double win!) and let the kids go wild with metallic paints, creating fireworks galore! It was a fantastic way for them to improve hand-eye coordination, exercise fine motor skills, and learn about colors and cause-and-effect. Let’s just say, they left with some masterpieces that’ll make Picasso jealous!
We seriously had a blast at the event. It was heartwarming to see everyone come together and have such a good time. Shoutout to CCRC for inviting us – we had a whale of a time! And you know what? We’re already pumped for next year’s Play Day! Can’t wait to do it all over again!
