Thriving Childcare

Welcome to Thrivingchildcare.com

Hello!  My name is Adrienne Addison-Bradley.  I am a home-based child care provider.  After having a career in hospital administration for many years and raising three children I started my childcare in 2005 and have been in business for a little over 10 years now.
Welcome to Thrivingchildcare
Hi! I’m Adrienne

My Start in Childcare

Before starting my business I worked in corporate America.  One year my employer decided to outsource my department.  I took the opportunity to pursue getting into childcare.

I returned to school and studied Child Development obtaining certifications from an Associate Teacher up to a Director of a private program.   During the course of my studies, I did an internship at a corporate daycare specializing in backup child care and was soon hired as a teacher’s assistant.

While I was there I was fortunate to see a very well run, well-funded program as well as develop professional relationships with fellow early educators.  Although they were aware that I intended to open my own child care, while I was there I observed what a quality program should look like and which practices I would later incorporate into my business.

During my education, I have also been invited to sit on early educator panels for the Child Development Program at local colleges.

What I have Learned

Over the years I have encountered many situations from which I have learned and adapted my business practices to help my business grow and thrive.  Whenever I attend a workshop or seminar I find myself sharing with other providers some of the solutions I have used to solve many of the issues most providers encounter.

We need the support and sometimes just a different or fresh perspective to approach challenges or problems productively.

As home-based providers, we can feel somewhat isolated and sometimes not have much interaction with fellow child care providers.  This is definitely an occupational hazard.

What I want for Thrivingchildcare.com

My intention is for thrivingchildcare to be that resource for prospective child care providers as well as seasoned child care professionals.  Somewhere you can turn to when you need solutions.  Kind of like running into me at a workshop and sharing.

Strategies to hopefully help you get started on the right foot and like the children you serve, grow your business.

In this blog, I hope to share many of the tips of the trade that I have come by in my tenure in these 10 years as a childcare provider.  Some things I wish I knew going in and some that only could be appreciated after a life experience.

Strategies to hopefully help child care providers get started on the right foot and like the children you serve, grow your business.  I will share some of the practices that have helped me grow the business and identify areas that I needed to change along the way.

We wear so many hats as a business owner that sometimes it can get overwhelming.  I plan to provide helpful resources, perspectives, and insights that will help you to have a thriving childcare.

I Want to Hear from You!

Just like any new relationship in order for it to work communication is key.  And for the record, just like any relationship, there may be times when you disagree with me.

I want to hear your perspective

That’s ok!

I want to hear your perspective.  So your feedback is appreciated and encouraged.  I would like to encourage my readers to get involved by leaving comments, questions and/or suggestions either here on the blog or at my email:  thrivingchildcare@gmail.com.

So welcome to Thrivingchildcare.com a place to share, learn and grow!  I’m glad you’re here.
