ARE YOU ALL CHILDCARE BUSINESS? Using your experience to grow your childcare

What it means to be All Business

I once had a colleague refer to me as being “all business”. I don’t know if she meant it as a compliment, but I took it as one. You see I wasn’t always that way. There have been many times in the past where I would have referred to myself as anything but.  However, as any seasoned provider can tell you with experience comes knowledge.  If you are serious about your profession it is incumbent upon you to put that knowledge to work for you.  Put it to work for your childcare business.

Put your experience and knowledge to work for your childcare business.

Challenges are really opportunities

Over the years, I feel I have done just that.  Whenever I would make a change to the business, I did so with the intention of making it better.  Not just for the clients, but for the childcare business and myself as well.

So when parents would arrive late, I took the opportunity to refine my hours of operation and time limits.  When they wanted to take vacations every other month without paying tuition, I created a vacation policy.  And when a client bailed on me, never to return from vacation, I implemented a mandatory two-week deposit prior to enrollment.

With each challenge came an opportunity to make my business better.

You make it happen

Over the past 13 years I have realized that it is not only in my best interest to gain the respect and credibility of my clients, but in the best interest of the business’ as well.  Not only do I deserve the acknowledgment of what I have chosen as a profession, but my family sacrifices and the field of child development as well.

Are you all business

What a child care provider does is important.  We provide a safe, nurturing environment for the development of the young children we serve.  Childcare providers allow parents to work in their chosen professions without the lingering concern about whether their child is being cared for.

Yes, our businesses might have us pouring milk three times a day and changing diapers more times than we can count.  But that is just as important as whatever profession the parents have.  You see if there where no child care provider, how could parents go to work?  You make that happen.

Childcare providers provide dependable childcare for parents.

All business huh?  Ok, I’ll take that.  My childcare business deserves nothing less than for me to treat it like a business I’ve worked so hard to create.

Do you treat your childcare business like a business?  How about your clients?  Leave me a comment below and tell me how you are all business.
